Wood joints or timber repair

Glass-fibre and carbon rods are also used as construction joints or reinforcements in wooden constructions. Various wooden parts of trusses come to mind (e.g. beams, purlins, principals, rafters and shores, span elements, sills, thresholds, columns and frame saws).

Also for making mortises, carbon profiles are increasingly wider used. The good adhesive properties of the composite profiles are important in this. Of course, the good mechanical and chemical properties also play an important part in making this choice. Connections/joints and anchoring between wood and other materials such as concrete and steel are also possible.

This principle is also often applied to timber repairs, such as beam-end repairs and for making wooden prostheses.
