Float antennas, rod holders and bait indicators in angling

Carbon profiles are frequently used in angling. The primary application is in the production of fishing floats. The float body is usually made of Rohacell rigid foam or balsa wood. For the lower and upper antennas, glass-fibre or carbon micro-profiles are often used.

For the upper antenna, glass-fibre rods and tubes are often used. The colour of a glass-fibre antenna is white or transparent by nature. By providing the glass-fibre antenna with a fluorescent coating, the antenna looks optically thicker. So one can use a thinner antenna for fishing and still retain good visibility.

The carbon profiles are often used as the lower antenna. Due to the lower density, smaller pens can be made with a large carrying capacity.

Both glass-fibre and carbon micro-rods and tubes of DPP have excellent adhesive properties without having to be degreased or polished. Gluing the antennas to the floats is therefore simple and the adhesion very good. Moreover, the favourable elastic properties of the composite material ensure that the antennas never warp.

Not only are composite rods and tubes (telescopic, if desired) used for the manufacture of floats, they are also used as construction elements for rod holders and bait indicators.
